Network cards

Network cards are expansion devices, allowing to connect, for example, computers or servers to the Internet. Due to the type of connection, there are two types of network cards: wired cards, such as Ethernet, and wireless cards - Wi-Fi. Due to the high requirements of network speed and efficiency, network cards are used in many different solutions, such as storage or virtualization.

Our business partner, the company AMD Xilinx which specializes in network cards, has developed dedicated software extensions to increase the efficiency of these devices and reduce latency.

Brand software AMD Xilinx, include:

• ScaleOut, DPDK, Onload, TCPDirect - technologies that allow bypassing the operating system kernel, making latency drop even below 1us.
• NVMe-oF TCP - provides the NVMe-oF (NVMe over Fabrics) standard. Instead of RDMA, it uses a Posix-compliant TCP stack.
• Precision Time Protocol(PTP) - allows achieving precise clock time synchronization of less than 1 microsecond. Such a solution is often required in time-sensitive applications used, for example, in industrial automation, telecommunications and power generation.
