What kind of monitor to choose for a dental office?

Which monitor to choose for a dental office - Stovaris

Compliance of the monitors with the Ministry of Health Regulation of 2017

"For dental pantomography and tomography, the requirements for descriptive and review stations are the same as for tomography and angiography."

Descriptive post
(where the diagnosis of the condition/problem is made):

  1. At least 1 monitor; if DICOM images are interpreted, the monitor must be able to display according to the DICOM standard;
  2. if images are saved in color, the monitor should be in color;
  3. minimum resolution: 1 megapixel;
  4. minimum working screen diagonal: 45cm;
  5. Minimum luminance: 200 cd/m2;
  6. minimum contrast: 250/1;

Specific conditions of the descriptive (diagnostic) room

  1. illumination of the monitor's work surface of not more than 15 lux;
  2. The walls of the room should be finished with a dark, non-glossy surface; the clothing of those describing must not contain reflective elements.

Review position
(medical position in a dental office):

  1. At least 1 monitor;
  2. minimum resolution: 1 megapixel;
  3. Minimum working screen diagonal: 45 cm;
  4. Minimum luminance: 100 cd/m2;
  5. minimum contrast: 100/1;

REQUIREMENTS FOR INTRAORAL IMAGES:

Descriptive post:
- at least 1 monitor;
- minimum resolution: 0.7 megapixels;
- minimum, working diagonal of the screen: 37.5 cm;
- minimum luminance: 200 cd/m2;
- contrast ratio: 250/1

Review stand:
- at least 1 monitor;
- minimum resolution: 0.7 megapixels;
- minimum, working diagonal of the screen: 37.5 cm;
- minimum luminance: 100 cd/m2;
- minimum contrast ratio: 100/1.

In addition to tests of X-ray equipment, tests should be performed on monitors used to present medical images.

This does not apply to monitors used exclusively for the presentation of medical images in the field of intraoral dentistry.

Despite the not-too-exorbitant requirements for the image parameters of monitors dedicated to dental offices, medical equipment manufacturers offer much more advanced solutions allowing for much more detailed analysis of images, faster diagnosis and better working comfort. The proposed medical monitors have diagonal sizes from 21.5" to 27", resolutions from 2 MPix to 8 MPix. They have the ability to display both color and monochrome images compliant with the DICOM Part 14 standard. Some of them have built-in special sensors that automatically control image parameters. This ensures that the image is displayed correctly, that an accurate diagnosis is made, and that high resolution and appropriate grayscale are maintained.

BARCO Eonis 22" MDRC-2222 and Eonis 24" MDRC-2324

  • Medical color monitors that also display monochrome images in compliance with the DICOM Part 14 standard.
  • Front Consistancy Sensor - a sensor built into the front edge of the housing, which automatically controls and possibly corrects the image parameters, such as the appropriate grayscale.
  • Protective glass that allows disinfection by available means
  • Ambient light presets, predefined settings of high-resolution image parameters for working in different lighting conditions.

Eonis 22" MDRC-2222:

JUSHA CR240G

  • A medical color monitor that also allows the display of monochrome images, and 3D rendering, according to the DICOM Part 14 standard.
  • Full-screen brightness equalization SLE controls brightness levels across the entire screen surface point by point ensuring the required uniformity according to DICOM standard guidelines.
  • Ins-Guard monitors the brightness level at the center of the matrix in real time through an installed sensor(backlight sensor).
  • The new-generation LCD panels allowed high brightness (max. 600 cd/m2, and 550 cd/m2 with backlight alignment) and a contrast ratio of 1:1000. This gives the effect of feeling the depth of the different layers of the image.

We draw your special attention to the requirement for periodic inspection (at least once every 12 months):

  • Correctness of DICOM curve mapping,
  • The unevenness of the backlighting of the screens,
  • monitors designed for descriptive (diagnostic) work and calibrated according to the DICOM Part 14 standard.

All the monitors presented have the relevant medical device certifications, guaranteeing the correct display of high-resolution images obtained from commissioned tests. The above solutions are offered with an 8% VAT rate.
