More than a traffic copy - specialized TAPs from ProfiTAP
Any network analysis begins with reliable and secure data acquisition. To get an accurate copy of the data without introducing an active network element, it is best to use TAPs. But what if you need additional functionality beyond passive signal copying? Then it's worth considering specialized TAPs from ProfiTAP, which are profiled to answer common problems we face when interfering with network infrastructure.
Secure TAP
For many organizations, especially government, financial or medical, the security of the network being designed must come first. When creating a system that analyzes and responds to threats, we must ensure that there are enough copies of traffic for monitoring tools, as well as protect against tampering with copied traffic.
Secure TAPs feature a data diode that prevents accidental or intentional input from monitor ports from entering and disrupting the operational network. The data diode adds an extra layer of security in deployments with security and monitoring tools.
Key features:
- Physical isolation from the operational network on copper TAPs, which acts as a data diode
- An optical data diode for fiber optic TAPs prevents light from entering the monitor ports.
- Active TAPs have secure firmware
- Security seals prevent devices from being opened and tampered with
- Random patterns used on seals and packaging for secure logistics
Profitap network TAPs are designed in accordance with ANSSI CSPN guidelines for use in critical infrastructures and are manufactured to meet the highest security standards. The CSPN guidelines help meet the expectations for critical infrastructures under the French Military Programming Act of 2005.
Other European national cyber security agencies, such as Germany's Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), also recognize ANSSI CSPN. ANSSI and BSI have signed an agreement on mutual recognition of certificates under the CSPN program. BSI will recognize all CSPN certificates, and ANSSI will recognize all BSZ certificates.

Booster TAP
Aggregation TAPs play a key role in consolidating and optimizing data flows as network complexity increases. Booster TAPs from ProfiTAP are designed for lossless aggregation of traffic from multiple in-line or OOB (Out-Of-Band) links to a single output or two replicated outputs, simplifying the monitoring infrastructure and optimizing port utilization in monitoring tools. Profitap's Boosters also act as media converters, enabling the connection of tools that support different speeds. For example, using the TAP Booster, we can send 10M, 100M and 1G to an analyzer supporting only 10G and higher speeds.
Key features:
- Direct link aggregation, no management, installation or drivers required
- VLAN tagging
- Non-invasive to the network
- PoE passthrough
