GS601 - E-cigarette smoke detector from Milesight

Increasingly common electronic cigarettes are becoming a bigger problem for schools, hotels and many other facilities than traditional cigarettes. Why? Because of the difficulty in detecting the smoke coming out of them. The company Milesight offers a solution for anyone who wants to effectively detect vaping. It turns out that Milesight's GS601 model is an effective solution in the fight against traditional and electronic cigarettes.
What advantages does the GS601 have?
Milesight GS601 is a cigarette and e-cigarette smoke detector that uses an open long-range protocol as its method of reporting smoke detection LoRaWAN. The cigarette smoke detector plays a key role in the fight for a healthy learning, working and leisure environment. It is crucial that the chosen solution is scalable and deployable in any environment. By using LoRaWAN technology to communicate with a user panel, it is possible to easily cover even a large area of a building at low cost and inform remotely when cigarette and e-cigarette smoke is detected.
Functions and operation of the GS601 smoke detector
Equipped with a set of powerful built-in sensors, the GS601 simultaneously measures temperature, humidity, TVOC and PM parameters. When environmental changes reach preset thresholds, the detector activates both an LED light alert and an audible alarm. In addition to local alerts, the GS601 will also report air quality status and alarm messages remotely via LoRaWAN technology.
By integrating with the Milesight LoRaWAN gateway and the Milesight software platform, users can visually monitor all sensor data and remotely manage the device. The GS601 blends seamlessly into a variety of installation environments, making it ideal for restrooms, locker rooms, classrooms, stairwells, apartments and other locations.
In addition, the GS601 is equipped with a self-diagnostic function that regularly checks the condition of the device and remotely reports any faults. This ensures that the detector always works in an optimal way, guaranteeing the highest level of safety. With these advanced features, the GS601 smoke detector is a reliable tool for detecting fire hazards in any room.
Assembly and installation of smoke detector
Assembling and installing the GS601 smoke detector is a process that can bedone on your own with only basic technical skills. Installation of the sensor is simple and requires no specialized tools, making it ideal for any office or facility.
The sensor should be installed in areas most exposed to smoke, such as toilets, lobbies, stairwells, etc. This will allow the device to effectively monitor these areas and quickly respond to the appearance of smoke. The GS601 sensor has an anti-tamper alarm. This additional safety feature makes the sensor reliable in any situation.
Advantages of using LoRaWAN long-range technology
Importantly, LoRaWAN technology integrates very easily with BMS systems. The GS601 sensor system in the building will be able to serve as an extension of the existing management system, such as air conditioning, by using one of the gateways from this manufacturer: UG63, UG56, UG65, UG67. This device can thus be successfully installed in office buildings, hotels and schools and create even very complex smoke detection systems.
Thanks to the long range of the LoRaWAN radio network, one gateway is usually enough to cover several floors in a building, thereby reducing the cost of deploying a network of smoke detection devices throughout the building.
The air alerting and information system will be available from a single user desktop, which can be accessible from the cloud or just using customer resources (On-Premise solution) all depends on the customer's will. It is also possible to prepare a customized solution, in case of a larger project.
Main features of the device:

E-cigarette smoke detection

Smoking marijuana smoke in

Air quality monitoring: PM1.0; PM2.5; PM10 humidity and temperature

Real-time alarms via LED and buzzer

High accuracy - immune to water vapor and other gas interference

Buzzer hibernation mode to prevent false alarms during installation

Fire detection by monitoring temperatures from 20 °C to 60 °C to detect potential fire hazards

Protection against tampering and theft thanks to a built-in vibration sensor, ensuring the safety of the device
Avoiding false alarms
False alarms can be a nuisance and cause unnecessary stress. They can be caused by various factors, such as dust in the room, dust or other particles that can be detected by the smoke detector. To avoid false alarms, it is important to regularly clean the GS601 sensor and check its operation.
Additional system expansion capabilities
Once the LoRaWAN network is introduced into the building, then we can add other solutions on the same network in addition to smoke detection devices. Since the LoRaWAN gateway can support up to several hundred terminal devices, you can also introduce a leak checking system, a heating and ventilation control system, an occupancy control system, and much more into the building. You can find the full catalog of LoRaWAN devices in our offerings HERE.
