Vertiv Geist SwitchAir - cooling for rackmount network switches

Network switches, load management systems and routers are typically installed at the top and rear of the rack, away from the cold air aisle. This location makes it difficult for cold air from the front of the rack to flow into the network switch inlets, increasing the risk of failures over the long term. SwitchAir prevents malfunctions by directing cold air from the front of the rack to the network equipment inlets - regardless of where it is mounted. The figure on the left shows a thermal view of a cold aisle in a DC, with Top of the rack network switches installed.
Benefits
- Reduces the possibility of overheating network switches by directing cold air directly to the equipment inlet of the cabinet.
- Reduces the likelihood of premature equipment failure caused by high inlet temperatures.
- Increases device efficiency by providing the same air temperature for network devices as a cold aisle for the rest of the equipment in the rack.
- Prevents air recirculation from hot to cold aisles caused by the absence of blanking panels.
- Standard 3-year warranty, extendable to 5 years if product is registered.
Properties
- Guarantees the flow of cooled air into the inlet of network switches and other devices with air inlet from the rear (opposite side of the port), from the front (port side), with single or double inlet.
- Forms a barrier, effectively preventing hot exhaust air from returning to the equipment inlets.
- Easy and fast installation in all standard server cabinets or enclosures.
