Opengear is expanding its portfolio with the addition of NetOps Operations Manager devices for out-of-band management.

Opengear has introduced two brand-new console server models: OM1200 and OM2200. These devices are the first of their kind. This innovative solution supports standard Docker containers. In addition, it combines intelligent Out-of-Band automation and NetOps in a single appliance.

Opengear, introducing innovative solutions, is undoubtedly a leader in the IT market - 75% of Fortune 100 companies use the manufacturer's devices.

Opengear engineers regularly develop and implement new solutions, raising the bar for competing companies. Such activities by Opengear undoubtedly contribute to increasing the pace of development of products dedicated to EDGE and to Data Centers.

The introduction of new console server models (OM1200 and OM2200) improves and facilitates the work of IT professionals and technicians who deal with networks on a daily basis. The new Opengear solutions provide tools to automate the daily management of network infrastructure. Continuous innovation is key to meeting evolving network resiliency needs.

NetOps' innovative console servers are the only Out-of-Band devices in the industry that use both an x86 architecture processor and a secure boot process. This process provides protection and guarantees against unauthorized attempts to modify both configuration settings and the internal software itself.

The appliances support standard Docker applications. This means that users on a single console server can deploy both Opengear's NetOps modules, as well as their own automation applications and even modules from third-party vendors.

The built-in TPM 2.0 chip elevates physical security to Out-of-Band sharing, which is unique to Opengear devices. Thus, it provides protection, even in remote locations or remote branches. A large internal flash memory (16 GB on the OM1200 or 64 GB on the OM2200) provides ample space for storing configuration files and software.

The two new console server models (OM1200 and OM2200) are key components of Opengear's Network Resilience platform, which is managed via Lighthouse software. The entire platform also includes the user-appreciated and award-winning Smart OOB Console Servers (ACM7000, IM7200 and CM7100 devices).

Opengear has always been based on an open architecture - hence the first term, "Open," in Opengear's name - and all products are based on Linux. The company's "open" principle also applies to its new NetOps products, which include standard tools like Ansible, Docker and Python.

"NetOps' innovative console servers increase the value delivered by Opengear solutions. From now on, network engineers can deploy a single device at each location. This solution will provide both secure remote access, but also surveillance capabilities and network management automation." Marcio Saito also stressed that "customers have consistently chosen Opengear as the clear market leader in out-of-band management."

Marcio Sait

Director of Technology, Opengear

Opengear, through the implementation of new and innovative functionality to its Network Resilience platform, provides NetOps and Smart Out-of-Band automation tools in a single solution. The platform provides secure remote access to critical network devices, via a separate management plane. It has the ability to automate NetOps processes, such as secure hardware deployment and provisioning. It also provides access to remote IP devices, anywhere at the network edge (EDGE). All Opengear devices are designed specifically for out-of-band (OOB) management and manufactured in Opengear factories, allowing Opengear to maintain a consistent design approach and full control of quality and inventory management.

Saito also announced that "Opengear has gone beyond emergency access with its Network Resilience platform. The platform extends EDGE management access, through a continuously operating plane, resilient to disruptions in the production network. In this way, we enable engineers to manage, monitor and repair critical devices used in their networks. At the same time, our solutions make it possible to lock down many functions on the production network, which directly translates into improved security. In summary, Opengear can be seen as synonymous with the term: network resilience."
