Critical infrastructure monitoring with Vertiv Geist
Environmental factors such as heat, humidity and its high condensation pose a serious threat to critical areas. However, we can minimize the risk of failure caused by unsuitable conditions. Vertiv Geist's network of environmental sensors, combined with an intelligent Watchdog module and appropriate software, will allow us to collect the necessary data and alert the user to potential hazards.
Vertiv Geist Watchdog allows remote control of various environmental parameters in critical areas. The solution enables:
- Receive alerts when a user-specified threshold of specific IT environment parameters is exceeded. IT systems support will be informed automatically of such an event and will be able to respond before it causes downtime.
- Expand monitoring capabilities by combining Vertiv Geist Watchdog with external sensors.
- View real-time sensor data via a secure web interface. Alerts can be sent via e-mail, SNMP or SMS.

Accessories
5-Port Splitter
The 5-port splitter increases the number of available Plug-n-Play sensor ports. It is required to connect four external sensors to the Watchdog when you do not want to connect them in series.
Power unit -48 VDC
The -48VDC power supply allows users to use -48VDC to power the Watchdog 15 and Watchdog 100.
Analog/contact environmental sensors
| RDPS sensor - door position This sensor detects when a door to a server room or rack has been opened or closed. It consists of four components: a magnet, a switch with a screw terminal, a cover and connection wires. The wired switch is mounted to the frame of the door or rack - the magnet is attached to the door, opposite the switch - so as to trigger an alarm when the rack is opened, for example. |

| Smoke detector The detector provides real-time detection of the presence of smoke. It connects to a standard wall outlet. |

| Flood sensor (FS) This sensor detects the presence of water in a server room. These devices are usually installed near or under plumbing fixtures, air conditioning, pipes and water sprinklers. |

| Wired water detection kit (WSCK) The WSCK is a perimeter leak detection kit. These kits are ideal for monitoring moisture in a large area, such as a room or group of server racks. When connected to any monitoring device with analog input ports, users will be alerted to the presence of water before it damages critical equipment. |

| Power Failure Sensor (PFS) This sensor sends real-time notifications of power outages. It is commonly used to monitor mains, UPS and 3-phase power. The PFS connects to an analog input port and comes with its own power supply, which plugs directly into the power source to be monitored. Status LEDs provide instant indications of system status. |

Vertiv Geist Device Detector
Device Director is a comprehensive Windows tool for installing, configuring and supporting multiple Vertiv Geist devices within a single interface. The program helps you set IP addresses for multiple devices, configure user accounts, modify network settings, update firmware, export/import configuration settings and check device connectivity. Device Director is a powerful and easy-to-use tool, streamlining the way Vertiv Geist devices are mass-configured - its use effectively reduces configuration time and maintenance costs. Key functionalities of the software include:
- Automatic detection of Vertiv Geist devices on the network,
- Mass configuration of device and network settings,
- Cumulative firmware updates.
