History of Overland Tandberg
Tandberg Data was founded in 1979 as a division of Tandberg Radio. In the 1990s, branches were established in Japan, Singapore and the US. Tandberg Data in 2006 acquired Exabyte, a company known for producing tape solutions. In the following years, the company launched a variety of tape drive and tape library solutions. In 2011, Tandberg Data became the exclusive owner of RDX removable hard drive technology. This technology has become the industry standard of removable disk storage for backup, archiving and data protection. Document archiving is one of the key areas in product development. In January 2014, Tandberg Data merged with Overland Storage. Since then, the company, under its new name: Overland Tandberg, has been focused on providing complete data protection solutions for small and medium-sized businesses. This merger has created a corporation that offers a full suite of virtualization technologies and data management solutions to support storage, public, private and hybrid cloud strategies that are used by customers around the world.
