Tripp Lite is an American manufacturer of solutions for medium power, power protection and electrical equipment connection. Founded in 1922 and headquartered in Chicago, the company has been part of the Eaton Electric (Moeller) corporation since 2021. The company employs more than 450 people and has sales in more than 80 countries worldwide. Product offerings include UPS power, power distribution, PDU strips, KVM switches, cabling and RACK cabinets and rack cooling, the full range is more than 3,000 products to organize the protection of critical data and all electronic equipment, from a typical desktop to a large Data Center.
History of Tripp Lite
Highlights of the company's history:
- In 1922, Graham Trippe, a Chicago inventor, obtains a patent for a new, precisely aimed automobile headlight. Trippe's "Speed Light" becomes an interesting automotive product, improving visibility in all types of vehicles.
- 1950s. Tripp Lite begins producing rotating warning lights and makes implementations for on-board AC power. The company develops a line of DC-AC inverters and becomes the world's best-known manufacturer in this field.
- In 1980, Tripp Lite becomes one of the first companies to produce UPS systems designed specifically for desktop computers.
- In 1982, the company introduced the "Isobar®" premium surge protector, which provides surge suppression for home and office electronics.
- In the 1990s. Tripp Lite develops the healthcare segment, including the most popular medical-grade power strips with a patented protective circuit. The UPS segment is promoted by models with a digital LCD screen, hot-swappable modular models and 3-phase models. New product lines also include KVM switches and award-winning cooling solutions.
- In 2010, the manufacturer is expanding its product lines, offering comprehensive solutions for data centers. A new DCIM platform was introduced, including products for network power management, SNMP and environmental monitoring.
- In 2016, Tripp Lite obtains a patent for an automatic source switch (ATS) for three-phase applications, these rack-mount models are a breakthrough solution for redundancy above 5 kW.
