StarWind

StarWind Software is a pioneer in storage virtualization. The company offers products characterized by simplicity, performance, availability and flexibility. The company was founded in 2003 as Rocket Division Software. In 2009, the owner (Veeam) increased the company's capital while giving it a new name - StarWind.

StarWind was one of the first vendors to offer Software-Defined Storage and hyperconverged solutions in 2005 (2008).

The company is the market leader in low-end hyperconverged devices. StarWind offers software-only or hardware-only variants of its main product. With these solutions, the company is able to tailor its products and solutions to meet the data center requirements of both small and large organizations.

In 2011, StarWind released its flagship product called Native SAN (the name was changed to Virtual SAN). It wasn't until 2014 that Vmware began selling its own Virtual SAN (VSAN), which solves the same problems and has the same architecture as StarWind's flagship.

In 2014, StarWind ceased to be a pure software company and became a hardware solution provider as well. Thus, the company launched hyperconverged Enterprise-class devices, available for small and medium-sized enterprises.
