EonStor GS U.2 NVMe is a guaranteed high-performance storage solution, for medium and large enterprises. SSDs with U.2 NVMe interface provide very high transfer rates and very high I/O operations per second (IOPS), while guaranteeing much higher cost efficiency than before. The GS series with U.2 interface is a unified storage solution, supporting SANs and offering NAS storage services at the same time. Scalability is provided by adding additional external nodes (scale-out), for both block-level and peak-level access, allowing for linear scalability of performance and capacity. It is the perfect solution for high-performance data processing and media handling applications, in the entertainment, virtualization or storage industries.

The high-speed U.2 NVMe SSDs, combined with a low-latency, high-speed PCIe interface, enable transfers of up to 20/10 GB/s read/write and up to 1 million I/O operations per second, within a single device.

Scale-out, Scale-up, or flexible expansion

Using EonStor GS and the horizontal expansion functionality (adding new nodes), it is possible to create storage clusters and increase performance and storage capacity linearly. This feature is available for both SAN and NAS services. Linear performance growth is possible by adding additional devices (scale-out). Capacity expansion of EonStor GS U.2 NVMe solutions is possible both by adding additional drives (scale-up) and adding additional devices (scale-out), supporting a total of up to more than 3,000 drives.

Easy access and simple management of your IT environment

Users have access to shared folders with a single parent directory, within a single shared namespace - so they don't have to wonder where the data is placed. Automatic load balancing is also enabled, avoiding tedious and time-consuming configuration and data placement planning.

Higher efficiency and lower TCO

EonStor GS U.2 NVMe offers hybrid storage features. Automatic data distribution between different disk storage tiers/technologies ( automated storage tiering), as used in EonStor GS, allows NVMe SSDs to take advantage of the high bandwidth and low latency of NVMe SSDs, offering in return higher performance for frequently used data. At the same time, it allows better use of traditional HDDs, in expansion enclosures, as a backup medium. This ultimately increases system performance and reduces the cost of ownership.

Intelligent SSD management

The EonStor GS U.2 NVMe storage uses an intelligent algorithm that groups data to be written to the device. It not only reduces the total number of SSD write operations in order to increase its lifespan, but also prevents the simultaneous-often leading to data loss-failure of several drives. EonStor GS U.2 NVMe monitors the status of SSDs in real time. It also estimates the remaining life of the media and sends alerts, reminding the administrator of the need to replace an SSD that may be failing.

Complete data protection and backup

EonStor GS U.2 NVMe storage offers several solutions in the area of data security to guarantee strict data protection. In the cases of SSDs, Infortrend has used a unique RAID technology that helps the system operate normally - while protecting the data, even if the drives are damaged. For local data backup in Infortrend universal arrays in GS U.2 NVMe arrays, the popular snapshot(snapshot) copy solution was used. Users can schedule a backup of all storage system resources, including volumes or shared folders, and then revert to a previous version if necessary. If remote backups are required, it is possible to use the remote replication functionality to create a copy of files on a remote GS Series appliance or even in the public cloud, using the EonCloud functionality of the cloud access gateway offered by the GS Series.
