Marvell
Marvell Technology Group Ltd. is a U.S.-based (Santa Clara, California) company founded in 1995. A leading semiconductor company in the United States, the company's history is based on creating innovations in storage, networking and connectivity.
Marvell group acquisitions
The Marvell group includes previously acquired companies: NetXen, Qlogic and Cavium.
Qlogic was founded in 1992 after a spin-off from Emulex, now in Broadcom 's porfolio, and was a leader in manufacturing network connectivity and application acceleration solutions for network servers and storage. At the beginning of the 11th cent. Qlogic was the market leader in storage controllers especially after acquiring Fibre Channel switch manufacturer Ancor Communications, iSCSI technology developer Little Mountain Group and Silverstorm Technologies, which designed InfiniBand interface products. In 2005, Troika Networks joined the group and with it storage virtualization products. A little later, NetXen and Intelligent Ethernet Adapter products joined. In 2014, QLogic signed a technology alliance agreement with Brocade Communications Systems, now Broadcom, and acquired the converged network card and Fibre Channel card business.
In 2016 Qlogic was acquired by Cavium and in 2018 Cavium itself, came under the wings of the Marvell group, where it began to specialize in network processors, video transmission and ARM and MIPS-based SoCs. Cavium had been developing its technologies since 2000, offering processors and boards designed for IT networks: routers, switches, appliances, IoT gateways, storage and servers. In 2021, there was another acquisition of Innovium, a leading provider of switches for cloud data centers and Edge Computing.
What does Marvell offer ?
Marvell (formerly also; Cavium, Qlogic), manufactures Ethernet network adapters and cards that are designed to accelerate and simplify network architecture in data centers.
These solutions have exceptional features and performance, thereby enabling the most flexible connectivity in data centers and software-defined data networking(SDDN) systems. Marvell (Qlogic) Ethernet networking solutions are dedicated to converged network applications with support for 200, 100, 40, 25 and 10GbE network speeds. The result of using Marvell products is better utilization of server performance and increased scalability of virtual servers.
Marvell is one of the latest vendors in the networking market to offer its 2000 Series HBA cards, which support 8GFC, 16GFC, 32GFC and 64GFC Fibre Channel interfaces.
